Meet the Staff
Mary Madore is the owner of Leaps N Bounds Gymnastics, Inc. and director of all gymnastics and tumbling programs. Mary was a competitive gymnast from age 10 through high school competing for the Waterville Area YMCA, Waterville High School (formerly Mary Roy) and Andy Valley Olympic School of Gymnastics in Auburn. Her coaching career began in 1979 at the Waterville Area YMCA. She was selected Maine USAG Coach of the Year in 2007 and received the USAG-ME Service Award for 2011 and 2015. Mary is a level 9 women’s gymnastics judge and was the Maine State Judging Director from 2004 to 2008. She was also the gymnastics instructor for Studio One for Dancers in Oakland from 1987 to 2013 and . Mary is a professional member of USA Gymnastics, was a State Administrative Committee Board Member for USAG-ME (2007-2015) where she held the position of Optionals/Xcel Coordinator, is a member of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges (NAWGJ), a board member of NAWGJ-ME, a certified meet director, a certified preschool gymnastics instructor having completed USA-Gymnastics’ Preschool Fundamentals and Hands on Training Course, has a National Trampoline Coaching Certification under the Canadian Gymnastics Federation, is safety certified by USA Gymnastics, is CPR certified by the American Heart Association, and first-aid certified by the American Red Cross. Mary has also earned the following certifications through USA Gymnastics University: Business Administrator, GFA JO Development Coach, GFA JO Team Coach, Recreational Advanced Teacher, Recreational Development Teacher, Recreational Director, and USA Gymnastics Instructor. She also attended the 2013 National Junior Olympic Workshop in Florida.
Kate Poulin is LNB’s operations manager. Kate graduated from Thomas College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. She has attended several National and Regional USAG Congresses. She completed Level 1 (Acorn) of USA Gymnastics’ Business Management Success Co urse Series. Kate is a compulsory women’s gymnastics judge, a Professional Member of USA-Gymnastics, a member of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges (NAWGJ), a board member (secretary/treasurer) for NAWGJ-ME, the secretary and Qualifying Score Verifier for USAG-Maine’s Administrative Committee, a certified meet director, is safety certified by USA-Gymnastics, and is CPR certified by the American Heart Association.
Ashley Laweryson is an assistant coach for Leaps N Bounds’ Junior Olympic Gymnastics Team and the instructor for the Mom/Dad N Me classes. She was a competitive gymnast at the Waterville YMCA for 7 years and achieved Level 8 status. After “retiring” from competition, she coached at the YMCA for 6 years. Ashley is a professional member of USA Gymnastics and is safety certified by them. She is a Certified Gymnastics Instructor and is CPR certified. Ashley is a KVCC graduate and is employed as a medical assistant for Waterville Family Practice.
Brooke Boulanger is assistant coach for Leaps N Bounds’ Junior Olympic Team and the choreographer for our Xcel Team. She is a former competitive gymnast for the Waterville YMCA. Brooke is a former member and captain of the UMO Dance Team, and a former dancer at the Dance Connection for 14 years. Brooke attended USAG’s National Congress in 2011, 2013 and USAG’s Regional Congress in 2012. She is a Professional Member of USA Gymnastics, a Certified Instructor, and Safety Certified. Brooke graduated in May 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and Family Relations with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maine. She is currently working as a first grade teacher in Oakland.
Fern Calkins instructs preschool, gymnastics classes, tumbling classes, and Home Team. She is a 5 year veteran of LNB’s Junior Olympic Gymnastics Team where she competes Level 8. Fern is the 2013 USAG Level 8 Maine State Balance Beam and All-Around Champion. Fern danced for 7 years with Studio One for Dancers in Oakland, and plays soccer for Seacoast Blackbear United in the spring. She is a freshman at Messalonskee High School, is CPR certified, and an athlete member of USA Gymnastics.
